Gleyber Torres and Eugenio Suarez Agree, The Tigers Need to Acquire the Slugger originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Detroit Tigers raced out to a huge lead in the AL Central in the first half of the season. Since the All-Star break, though, they have been one of the worst teams in the league.

If they listened to one of their All Stars, the front office would make the biggest trade of deadline season and get Eugenio Suárez out of Arizona.
Gleyber Torres said Tuesday that, “It’s going to be awesome,” if the team is able to make the deal come to fruition. “”He treats people the right way. He’s easy to talk to. He always wants to help the players. It would be a really, really good addition for us.”

Torres and Suárez were teammates on Team Venezuela during the World Baseball Classic. The time together made a big impact on Torres; he speaks glowingly of his former and possibly-future teammate. “I think he’s a better person than player…He is a humble guy, an awesome person. I’ve known him for many years. Our relationship is really good.”

Torres is not the only one who wants the Diamondback third baseman in a Tigers uniform. Even Suárez has come out and said he wants to come back to Detroit, the team he began his career with.
“To finish where everything started, it would be cool,” Suárez said a day before playing in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. “It would mean a lot to me.” He made his debut with the team in 2014 and played 85 games before being traded the following offseason.
Suárez understands how much has changed if he were to come back. “Since I was there, it’s been a lot different. It’s a new team with a lot of young guys and a lot of talent. I think they have a really good chance to make it more than the playoffs this year.”

They do have a great shot at a deep playoff run, but they are not playing like it right now. After multiple trades for pitchers, it feels like a reunion might be destined to happen. And their second baseman would be thrilled.
