OUT, THEY’RE READY ON A RAINY EVENING IN AN OLD BRAINTREE WAREHOUSE, THE PRIDE OF MASSACHUSETTS IS TAKING FINAL BATTING PRACTICE BEFORE HEADING TO BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT FOR THE LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL NEW ENGLAND REGIONALS. THIS IS, I MEAN, UNHEARD OF. YOU KNOW, THIS IS LIKE EVERYONE’S DREAM, YOU KNOW, LIKE THE BRAINTREE AMERICAN. ALL THE BRAINTREE HAS NEVER WON STATES. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN 72 YEARS. GO GET HIM, GET HIM, GET HIM! COME ON. THAT HISTORY WAS MADE SUNDAY WITH A10 WIN OVER WALPOLE. YOUR ENERGY LEVEL JUST GOES SO HIGH UP AND IT’S JUST A WONDERFUL FEELING. IT’S SO GOOD. THE GOAL IS THE LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES. BUT UP NEXT, BEATING THE TEAM FROM MAINE ON SATURDAY IN BRISTOL. THE GAME PLAN DON’T CHANGE A THING. YOU KNOW THE GAME IS NOT CHANGING. The Braintree American Little League team took one final batting practice Thursday before heading to Connecticut for the New England Regionals.The team won the state championship Sunday, beating Walpole for the first time in decades.“This is unheard of. This is like everyone’s dream. Braintree American has never won states — this is the first time in 72 years,” head coach Frank Fasoli said.Next up, they’ll take on Maine on Saturday for a chance to make it to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in mid-August.“You know the game’s not changing. It’s staying the same, as long as they treat it that way and play the way they can play, then they’re going to do great,” Fasoli said.Braintree will play Maine at 1 p.m. on Saturday.The Little League World Series will run from Aug. 13 to Aug. 24, featuring 20 teams — 10 from the United States and 10 international teams.
