Infielder Carlos Correa was traded back to the Houston Astros, per multiple reports. The Twins got minor-league pitcher Matt Mikulski in return for Correa, and they will also pay $33 million of the $103,419,355 remaining on his contract. Correa spent the first seven seasons of his career in Houston and was part of the World Series-winning team in 2017, before signing with the Twins in 2022.
Relief pitcher Griffin Jax was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for pitcher Taj Bradley, sources say. Jax has been on the Twins for his entire five-season career, while Bradley has spent the first three seasons of his career with the Rays.
Relief pitcher Louis Varland and first baseman Ty France have been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Kendry Rojas and outfielder Alan Roden, per multiple sources. Varland, a St. Paul native, has spent his entire four-year career with his hometown team, while France came to the team from the Cincinnati Reds this past offseason.
Super utility-man Willi Castro has reportedly been dealt to the Chicago Cubs, multiple sources say. In return, the Twins will reportedly get Double-A pitchers Ryan Gallagher and Sam Armstrong. Castro spent the first four years of his career with the Detroit Tigers before coming to the Twins for the previous three seasons and playing nearly every position.
Relief pitcher Danny Coulombe was moved to the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitcher Garrett Horn, according to multiple sources. Coulombe was on his second stint with the Twins, having appeared in 40 games this season and was also with the team from 2020 to 2022. He has also spent time with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his career.
Outfielder Harrison Bader was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for 16-year-old pitcher Geremy Villoria and 21-year-old outfielder Hendry Mendez, per multiple reports. Villoria has spent his first pro season at Philadelphia’s rookie-level complex and didn’t rank among the Phillies’ top-30 prospects. Mendez is currently at Double-A and was ranked by MLB.com as the Phillies’ No. 12 prospect. Bader is an impending free agent at the end of the season.
Relief pitcher Brock Stewart was moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Stewart, 33, has two more years of team control after this one but has struggled with injuries in the past, so the Twins opted to move him. In exchange, the Twins will receive outfielder James Outman, who has been with the Dodgers for the past four seasons.
