ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KFVS) – The St. Louis Cardinals organization has traded right-handed relief pitcher Phil Maton to the Texas Rangers for Mason Molina, Skyler Hales and International Bonus Pool Space.
Maton is from Paducah, Kentucky and had a 2.35 ERA in 40 appearances for the Cardinals.
Molina is a left-handed pitcher. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 7th round of the 2024 MLB draft. The 22-year-old was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week in April.
Hales, 23, was drafted by the Rangers in the 4th round of the 2023 MLB Draft. He made seven appearances for Triple-A Round Rock since his promotion earlier in July.
