The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring outfielder Alex Call from the Washington Nationals, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Who is Alex Call?
Call, 30, can play all three outfield spots and is having a solid year in Washington, hitting .274 with three home runs, 26 RBIs and an OPS of .756.
Call is still pre-arbitration, and will be under team control until 2030. He effectively replaces James Outman — who was traded to the Minnesota Twins — as a depth outfielder for LA.
Call was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He was traded to Cleveland in 2018 and joined Washington in 2022 off waivers. There, he developed into a serviceable major league player.
Across 277 career games in MLB, Call is slashing .242/.342/.369 with 19 home runs, 91 RBIs and an OPS of .712. His career OPS+ of 102 places him just above league average.
Call is especially strong against left-handed pitching, slashing .314/.359/.443 with an OPS of .802 in 38 games this season. He could fill a major role for the Dodgers as an outfielder against left-handed pitching with Kiké Hernandez sidelined for the foreseeable future.
What Are The Dodgers Trading For Alex Call?
The Dodgers are trading right-handed pitching prospects Eriq Swan and Sean Paul Linan to Washington for Call. Swan is the team’s No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline, while Linan is No. 20.
