The longest-tenured member of the San Francisco Giants is heading to Kansas City.

According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Giants have traded veteran outfielder Mike Yastrzemski to the Kansas City Royals in a deal that came to fruition during the final minutes of the trade deadline.

San Francisco will receive right-handed pitcher Yunior Marte back from the Royals, a single-A talent who has a 2.74 ERA over 19 games this season.

Yastrzemski, 34, was the longest-tenured member of the San Francisco Giants, playing in 790 games during his seven seasons in the orange and black.

The soon-to-be-Royals outfielder is batting .230 with eight home runs and 28 RBI over 96 games this season.

By moving Yastrzemski, the Giants will now have an opportunity to give Luis Matos an extended run in right field, while also kicking the tires on former top prospect Marco Luciano, who has transitioned from shortstop to the outfield with AAA Sacramento.

The San Francisco Giants have moved on from former All-Star closer Camilo Doval.

According to YES Network’s Jack Curry, the New York Yankees have acquired Doval from San Francisco in return for four prospects, including catcher Jesus Rodriguez (#25 prospect in the Yankees system).

Doval, 28, has been demoted from the closer role and even sent down to AAA over the past season-plus as he navigates issues with control. Over 47 appearances this season, Doval holds a 3.09 ERA while striking out 50 batters over 46.2 innings.

During the 2023 season, Doval led the National League with 39 saves en route to earning his first and only All-Star nod.
