KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City Royals general manager J.J. Picollo was busy on trade deadline day this year.
Picollo pulled off three trades on Thursday, the third and final of which acquired San Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski. The deal was first reported by MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.
The 34-year-old outfielder is hitting .231 with 8 home runs, 38 runs scored and 28 RBI this season.
Yastrzemski is the grandson of Boston Red Sox legend Carl Yastrzemski.
The Royals confirmed the deal shortly after the deadline and said minor league pitcher Yunior Marte is heading to the Giants. A corresponding move will be announced later, the club said.
