It’s the final day of the 2025 Wyoming American Legion Baseball AA State Tournament, and three teams remain in contention for the title. Gillette and Casper survived elimination games on Thursday, while Sheridan suffered its first loss but was already guaranteed a spot in the championship game on Friday.

WYOPREPS 2025 AA STATE TOURNAMENT DAY 4 RECAP

The Gillette Riders advanced to day five of the state tournament with a 1-0 victory over the host Cheyenne Sixers. Gillette’s Riley Schilling threw a 3-hit shutout with four strikeouts and three walks. The only run of the game came in the fifth inning. Cason Loftus provided the go-ahead, game-winning RBI single to right field that scored Carmine Newman, who reached on a hit-by-pitch.

The Casper Oilers stayed in the tournament with an 11-5 victory over Sheridan. After the Troopers took a 1-0 lead, Casper scored the next nine runs of the game. They tallied three in the first inning and followed that with three more in the second on Holden Christensen’s home run. It was the first dinger of the state tournament. Jack Nicholls added two hits and two runs scored, while Cobey Pexton contributed a triple and two RBIs.

A three-hour weather delay pushed the two games on day four of the 2025 state tournament back in Cheyenne. The first game did not start until 6:31 p.m.

The final day of the state tournament starts at 11 a.m. with an elimination game between Gillette and Casper. The winner will face Sheridan in the championship game at 2 p.m.
