The Houston Astros travel to Fenway Park tonight to open a three‑game series against the Boston Red Sox.
Both teams are in playoff contention, but tonight’s game is particularly special for the Astros as they’re reuniting with a key piece of their World Series-winning teams: Carlos Correa.
The Astros reacquired Correa in a blockbuster last-minute trade with the Minnesota Twins, in exchange for minor league pitcher Matt Mikulski. Correa is back in the lineup, batting third and also fielding at third — in a change of scenario from his first stint in Houston.
The Red Sox look a lot different from when Correa was with the Astros. They’re younger and revitalized with the addition of prospects like Roman Anthony, who hit .329 in the month of July. He’s looking to carry that momentum into the fall.
While the Astros sit atop the AL West with a comfortable 4.5-game lead over the Seattle Mariners, the Red Sox are in third place in a crowded AL East, smack in the middle of an even tighter AL Wild Card race. As August begins, both teams would like to get hot to seal a spot in October. That journey begins tonight.
