The Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves played the top of the 9th inning at Great American Ball Park of their 3-2 win in the second game of a three-game series with Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz’s bat hanging in the net high above the visiting dugout.

When De La Cruz struck out to end the 8th inning, his bat flew out of his hands and into the netting. It wasn’t within reach, and FanDuel Sports Network’s John Sadak and Barry Larkin wondered whether the game would continue before the bat was retrieved.

“That is going to be interesting,” National Baseball Hall of Famer and former Reds great Larkin said. “Can they start to play with this thing hanging in the net?”

The Reds brought a cherry picker onto the field to retrieve the bat, after the game ended.
