The Los Angeles Dodgers begin a nine-game homestand on Tuesday night when they take on the Athletics. The Dodgers are coming off a long 10-game road trip in which they went 6-4. They won their series against the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins and then split a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. They beat the Diamondbacks 8-1 on Sunday and it improved their record to 27-14 on the season. They sit in first place in the National League West, a game up on the San Diego Padres for the top spot. Tuesday they will send Landon Knack to the mound in the opener. Knack comes into Tuesday 2-0 with a 4.61 ERA. The Dodgers have played well with him on the mound, as they have won all four games that he has appeared in. In his last start he went five innings and didn’t give up a run against the Miami Marlins. He struck out five and only walked one batter.

The Athletics will counter with Jeffrey Springs as they look to avoid a second straight loss on Tuesday night.
Springs comes into Tuesday 4-3 with a 4.81 ERA. He has been better in his last two starts, but he had given up 13 combined runs in his two starts before that.
The Athletics have lost three of his last four starts and are just 4-4 with Springs on the mound this season.
Tuesday’s game is the first of a six-game road trip that will also include three games against the San Francisco Giants.
