MLB Speedway Classic postponed due to rain, Reds to play Braves Sunday
CLASSIC ZERO IN WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE COOLEST BASEBALL GAME YOU HAVE EVER SEEN. WITH NEARLY 90,000 FANS PACKING BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY, MOTHER NATURE TOOK OVER AND DELAYED THIS GAME UNTIL TOMORROW AT 1:00. HERE IS THE TIMELINE OF THE DAY. IT STARTED OFF ON AND OFF THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON. BOTH TEAMS WEREN’T ABLE TO WARM UP PROPERLY, BUT THEN THEY GO BACK INTO THE CLUBHOUSE AND THEY THINK WE CAN START THIS GAME. HOWEVER, THEN THE TARP COMES OUT AND THEY WAIT TWO HOURS AND 17 MINUTES IN A DELAY. FINALLY, THEY SEE A LITTLE OPENING IN THE RADAR. THEY SAY IT’S GOING TO LIGHTEN UP. THEY TAKE THE TARP OFF. THEY TAKE 30 MINUTES TO GET THE FIELD READY. THE TEAMS COME BACK OUT. CHASE BURNS GOES ONE, TWO, THREE IN THE TOP OF THE FIRST. BOTTOM OF THE FIRST. THE REDS OFFENSE SCORES ONE. AND THEN AS THAT HAPPENS, THE UMPIRES COME TOGETHER, TALK IT OVER AND SAY THERE IS JUST TOO MUCH WATER ON THIS FIELD. IT IS NOT SAFE TO PLAY ON, SO THEY DELAY IT AGAIN. THE TARP COMES BACK ON, HEY, MAYBE WE CAN HAVE A VERY LATE GAME. ALL THE WEST COASTERS OUT THERE ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS, BUT TO NO AVAIL. AGAIN, THEY HAVE TO POSTPONE THIS GAME. The MLB Speedway Classic has been postponed due to inclement weather at Bristol Motor Speedway, the Cincinnati Reds announced Saturday evening.The game, which was set to kick off at 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 2, was delayed for over two hours due to rain. Once play began, the Reds were able to score one run against the Atlanta Braves.After reaching the bottom of the first inning, the teams were forced back into their dugouts as more rain made its way toward the field.The game has been rescheduled for Aug. 3 at 1 p.m.

The MLB Speedway Classic has been postponed due to inclement weather at Bristol Motor Speedway, the Cincinnati Reds announced Saturday evening.
The game, which was set to kick off at 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 2, was delayed for over two hours due to rain.
