Detroit Tigers’ Scott Harris ‘really excited’ about Chris Paddack
Detroit Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris talks to reporters July 28, 2025, about the Chris Paddack trade with the Minnesota Twins.
It’s time for a national audience to see how the post-trade deadline Detroit Tigers work together.
The Tigers conclude a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball,” and one of their newest additions will take the mound.
Charlie Morton, a 41-year-old and 18-year MLB veteran, will pitch for the Tigers against National League Cy Young Award candidate Cristopher Sanchez for the Phillies (9-3, 2.55 ERA). Morton was 7-8 with a 5.42 ERA in 23 games (17 starts) this season for the Baltimore Orioles before Thursday’s trade. Morton was 45-34 with a 3.87 ERA in 124 regular-season starts over the previous four seasons with the Atlanta Braves, including a World Series ring in 2021.
Every MLB fan wants to see this showdown of division leaders at Citizens Bank Park, which is why it’s a national broadcast. The Sunday game will be televised as ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” game, broadcasting on ESPN and on the ESPN app, with a stats simulcast on ESPN2.
