Pete Alonso achieved a piece of prestigious personal history.

He took one step closer to a major Mets milestone, too.

Alonso’s three-run home run on Saturday afternoon was the 250th homer of his career.

The first-inning blast in the Mets’ 12-6 win over the San Francisco Giants put Alonso two home runs away from tying — and three away from passing — Darryl Strawberry for the most homers in franchise history.

“It felt really special,” Alonso said. “I was just really happy to help the team right there, especially in the first inning. I thought it set the tone really well.”

Alonso sent a high fastball from Giants starter Kai-Wei Teng 428 feet into Citi Field’s left-field stands for his 24th homer of the season.

The 30-year-old slugger has now homered in two games in a row and has four more games on this homestand to catch Strawberry.

“The record is obviously something that is really special, and it’s meaningful, but right now in the heat of it, I’m not too focused on that,” Alonso said.

“I’m just focused on wins and what I can help this team do to win in each game,” he said. “We’re in the thick of a playoff race right now. I’ll think of all the other stuff in the offseason or whenever I have time to.”

Alonso’s 250th home run came in his 957th game and his seventh MLB season. Strawberry hit his 252 home runs with the Mets in 1,109 games over eight seasons.

“Pete’s great,” Francicsco Lindor said. “He’s one of the best power hitters in the game. Home runs, for him, he makes them look easy. They’re not as easy as he makes them look.”

The franchise record will further solidify Alonso’s standing as the most prolific home run hitter in Mets history.

He already boasts the Mets’ single-season record, which he set with 53 home runs in 2019, and is the only player in franchise history with three seasons of at least 40 homers, a feat he’s achieved three times.

Earlier this season, Alonso moved into second place on the Mets’ all-time home run list, passing David Wright, who hit 242.

“So happy for him,” Brandon Nimmo said after Alonso’s 250th. “He’s had such an amazing career here, with so many more milestones ahead of him.”
