The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-0, on Saturday in Blake Snell’s long-awaited return to the mound. The Dodgers fell to 64-47 on the year.
Additionally, it has been revealed that utility man Kiké Hernández has had multiple surgeries in an attempt to get back on the diamond. Hernández has been dealing with elbow issues for quite some time, as he was moved to the IL due to elbow inflammation for the second time this season on July 7.
In other news, the Dodgers reportedly pursued All-Star Steven Kwan at the trade deadline. The asking price proved to be too high for LA, but a different outfielder was still added before August 1st.
Speaking of the trade deadline, general manager Brandon Gomes spoke on the Dodgers’ somewhat quiet deadline compared to other teams’ more active endeavors. Gomes claimed that he isn’t sure if his squad has even played its best baseball yet, as the postseason is right around the corner.
