Freddie Freeman had one of those days Sunday — in an (extremely) positive way.

Freeman went 4-for-4, hit a solo home run that traveled 405 feet and raised his batting average to .376 in leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Arizona.

The Baltimore Orioles beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 at Anaheim Sunday.  The Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 9-3 at Colorado. After the game, the Rockies fired manager Bud Black.

At press time Monday, the Rockies had the worst record in baseball, 7-33. The day before Colorado’s 9-3 win, the Padres beat the Rockies 21-0 Saturday.

The Angels will host the Padres Tuesday night, and the Dodgers will host the Oakland Athletics.

The Dodgers led the second-place Padres by one game in the National League West at press time. St. Louis had cut the Chicago Cubs’ lead in the NL Central to one game, and the New York Mets led Philadelphia by 1.5 games in the NL East.

The American League leaders also remained unchanged – the New York Yankees in the East, Detroit in the Central and Seattle in the West.
