The Athletics lost their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, falling 6-4 Sunday at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.
The teams split the first two games of the series, with the A’s winning 5-1 on Friday and Arizona coming out on top 7-2 on Saturday.
The Diamondbacks opened the scoring in the second inning Sunday. Connor Kaiser was walked with the bases loaded, catcher Jose Herrera followed with a sacrifice fly and right-fielder Corbin Carroll then singled, staking Arizona to a 3-0 lead.
The A’s had a chance to answer in the bottom of the second inning with the bases loaded but a Max Schuemann grounder turned into a double play, third to first.
Arizona added a run in in the third inning after Tyler Locklear was walked, stole second and scored on an Alek Thomas single to left field.
The A’s finally got something going in the fifth inning when JJ Bleday hit a lead-off single to center and Gio Urshela followed with a single to left. Following a Schuemann groundout, Nick Kurtz singled to make the game 4-2.

A Blaze Alexander home run to center field extended Arizona’s lead to 5-2 in the seventh and the Athletics answered with a sacrifice fly by Schuemann that scored Bleday.
Arizona added a final run in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the inning, Bleday hit a solo home run that traveled 394 feet to right field — his ninth of the year.

The loss gives the A’s an 8-8 mark since the All-Star Break. The Diamondbacks also won the previous two series against the A’s this season, both two games to one.
A’s starting second baseman Luis Urias left Sunday’s game after the first inning with lower back spasms. Urshela came off the bench to replace him.
