
Cincinnati Reds reliever Brent Suter started Day Two of Speedway Classic
Cincinnati Reds lefty Brent Suter took over on the mound when the rain-suspended Speedway Classic resumed Sunday in Bristol, Tennessee.
The record-breaking attendance number for the 2025 MLB Speedway Classic at Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway between the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves was announced as 91,032 fans.
MLB announced July 28 that the Reds-Braves series finale at the race track was set to break MLB’s regular-season attendance record with more than 85,000 tickets sold to date.
The game broke the previous paid attendance record of 84,587 set September 12, 1954, when Cleveland Stadium hosted the New York Yankees.
MLB did not announce an attendance figure for the game before it was suspended Saturday night in the first inning.
Fox Sports analyst and former Braves great John Smoltz estimated that 50 to 75 percent of the fans on hand Saturday night returned Sunday.

Hall of Famers Johnny Bench and Chipper Jones participated in ceremonial first pitches as a downpour started before the game.
