Carson Whisenhunt recorded his first career win by combining with three relievers on an eight-hitter Sunday afternoon for the visiting San Francisco Giants, who beat the New York Mets 12-4 in the rubber game of a three-game series.
Rafael Devers was 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs for the Giants, who improved to 4-11 since the All-Star Break. Patrick Bailey and Dominic Smith had two RBIs each while Casey Schmitt drilled a three-run homer in the ninth. Heliot Ramos collected a run-scoring single.
Jung Hoo Lee was 4-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

Francisco Lindor homered in the first for the Mets, who are 10-10 in their last 20 games. Francisco Alvarez was 2-for-3 with a two-run ninth-inning single. Jeff McNeil had a pair of singles.
Whisenhunt (1-0), who made his big league debut last Monday, gave up two runs (one earned) and three hits while walking two and striking out four over 5 1/3 innings. The 24-year-old southpaw retired 11 of 12 following Lindor’s homer.
Jose Butto, who was traded to the San Francisco Giants in the deal that sent Tyler Rogers to the Mets on Wednesday, allowed one hit over 1 2/3 innings before Joey Lucchesi and Ryan Walker tossed an inning apiece.
Mets starter Frankie Montas (3-2) set down the first six batters before the Giants scored four times in the third. Lee led off with a single, stole second, took third when Lindor dropped the throw from catcher Alvarez and scored on Bailey’s single. One out later, Ramos walked, and Devers followed with a three-run homer.
The San Francisco Giants scored three more times in the fourth without the benefit of an extra-base hit. Schmitt and Lee singled with one ou,t and Schmitt scored from third when first baseman Pete Alonso double clutched on Bailey’s grounder. Ninth-place hitter Grant McCray laid down a bunt and Ramos and Devers followed with RBI singles.
Montas surrendered seven runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings. Austin Warren threw four scoreless innings before Schmitt homered off Ryne Stanek following Smith’s two-run single in the ninth.
