Nathan Eovaldi was named AL Pitcher of the Month for his work in July on Monday, Major League Baseball announced.

The Texas Rangers starter finished July with a 5-0 record and a 0.59 ERA in five starts totaling 30 2/3 innings. Eovaldi allowed two earned runs, one on a homer, in his five starts.

Since 2000, it was the 11th time a pitcher threw at least 25 innings over five or more starts with five wins and a sub-0.60 ERA for a month. In each of the previous 10 occasions, the pitcher ended up winning his league’s award. Most recently, Chris Sale did it with Atlanta in May of 2024 with a 0.56 ERA in 32 innings.

Eovaldi previously won the AL’s monthly award in May 2023 when he went 4-0 with a 0.96 ERA.

He is also the third pitcher in club history to win the award twice, joining Kenny Rogers (May 1995 and May 2005) and Charlie Hough (June 1983 and June 1984).

Eovaldi is the first Ranger to be named AL Player or Pitcher of the Month this season, and first since Wyatt Langford was honored as AL Player of the Month for September 2024.
