Baseball America ranked Battlefield High School junior Nico Moritz-Toledo among the nation’s top 100 high school draft prospects for the class of 2027.

The center fielder and Virginia Tech commitment is listed No, 72.

As a sophomore, Moritz-Toledo was a first-team all-Class 6 state selection in helping Battlefield reach the state final.

For the season, he hit .370 with eight doubles, two triples, three homers, 30 runs batted in, 34 runs scored and 23 stolen bases.

Baseball America lists Brett Renfrow (Colgan) as the No. 62 prospect for the 2026 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.

A junior right-hander at Virginia Tech and the Hokies’ opening-series pitcher for the second straight season, Renfrow led the team in strikeouts (74) and innings pitched (68.2) in 14 appearances. He posted a 3.41 ERA and a 3-6 record. He was a third-team all-ACC selection.

Renfrow competed this summer for the USA Collegiate National Team for the second straight season.

Caleb Woodson on Butkus list

Virginia Tech’s Caleb Woodson (Battlefield) is one of 51 college linebackers named to the 2025 Butkus Award Watch List.

The Butkus Award goes to the nation’s top collegiate linebacker. The number 51 is used because that was Butkus’ number.

Award semifinalists will be named Nov. 4, finalists Nov. 25 and the winner revealed by Dec. 10.

In 2024, Woodson finished second on the team in total tackles with 72. He also recorded 7.5 tackles for loss, including two sacks.
