Amateur Baseball: Pierz Lakers earn berth into state – Brainerd Dispatch

PIERZ — Ryan Diers hit two home runs for the Pierz Lakers in a 6-4 win over the Aitkin Steam in the Region 9C Quarterfinals Friday, Aug. 1, in Pierz.

Diers finished with three RBIs and three runs. Chase Becker went 2-4 with two RBIs. Preston Rocheleau pitched five innings of relief to get the win. He struck out 10 and allowed one run on four hits and one walk.

Aitkin’s Zack Ehnstrom finished 3-5 with a double and two RBIs. Nolan Dotzler doubled in a two-hit game. Landon Janzen also doubled.

Ehnstrom pitched 4.2 innings and allowed six runs on six hits and four walks.

PIERZ — Ryan Chimeleski finished with three hits, two doubles and five RBIs for the Pierz Lakers in a 26-0 win over the Upsala Blue Jays in the Region 9C Semifinals Saturday, Aug. 2, in Pierz.

Chimeleski pitched six innings and struck out 11 as the Lakers clinched a spot into the Class C State Tournament with the win.

Chase Becker recorded five hits, five runs and four RBIs with two doubles. Kamden Happke and Kolten Happke combined for five hits, five runs and four RBIs.

Preston Rocheleau went 4-6 with a double, four runs and five RBIs. Noah Cekalla went 4-5 with a double, three runs and five RBIs.

PIERZ — Gunnar Wicklund went 3-5 with two runs and one RBI for the Pierz Brewers in an 8-0 win over the Royalton Riverdogs in the Region 4B Quarterfinals Saturday, Aug. 2, in Pierz.

Preston Veith finished 1-4 with two RBIs. Peter Schommer pitched eight innings and allowed no runs on nine hits and one walk. He struck out two.

PIERZ — Ryan Stuckmayer went 3-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for the Pierz Brewers in a 7-5 loss to the Randall Cubs in the Region 9C Semifinals Sunday, Aug. 3, in Pierz.

Gunnar Wicklund and Preston Vieth added two hits apiece. Derek Dahmen started and pitched five innings. He struck out seven and allowed three runs on nine hits.

PIERZ — Nathan Ehnstrom struck out nine in nine innings to help the Aitkin Steam earn a 5-1 win over St. Wendel to stay alive in the Region 9C Tournament Saturday, Aug. 2, in Pierz.

Jake McGuire finished 3-3 with a double, two runs and two walks. Drew Paulbeck doubled and drove in a run.

Ehnstrom recorded two RBIs.
