Reigning UFC middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis, is already in the “Windy City” for his UFC 319 pay-per-view (PPV) main event against undefeated 185-pound contender, Khamzat Chimaev. To help promote their Aug. 16 title fight, booked for the United Center in Chicago, “Stillknocks” is making the media rounds and even found time to throw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field.

As you can see from the embedded video below (use the Instagram arrows to scroll right), Cubs mascot “Clark” wanted no part of the UFC champ. Must be that “controversial” style du Plessis plans to use against Chimaev when they hook ‘em up later this month in the UFC 319 headliner.

“My style, it’s a very controversial style in the UFC — unlike anything that most people have ever seen,” du Plessis told FOX 32. “It’s only a benefit because it’s proven to be effective, but then again, how do you prepare for that? How do you find somebody to mimic that? And that is, at the end of the day, almost my niche. It’s hard, close to impossible to prepare for me, because I have this unique style that, where do you find somebody to mimic it?”

“Khamzat is obviously world class in grappling but this level of the sports, everybody’s world class,” du Plessis continued. “You know, this is not grappling or wrestling, this is MMA. We’re not fighting for a wrestling title. We’re not fighting for a grappling title. We are fighting for the UFC title, and that’s where I am the best. I’m not the best wrestler. I’m not the best grappler, or best striker. But when you put all those things together, if you combine it and that’s just what we do, I am the best in the world.”
