The Chicago White Sox will attempt to rebound from yesterday’s 8-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Tonight’s matchup at T-Mobile Park features Jonathan Cannon for the Good Guys and George Kirby for the M’s.
On the mound for Chicago, Cannon enters with a 4-8 record and a 4.77 ERA. The righthander’s last two starts have been rough as he’s allowed 11 earned runs over 10 1/3 frames. He will face a Mariners’ offense that is led by the powerful duo of Cal Raleigh, who leads all of MLB with 42 round-trippers, and Eugenio Suárez, who has 37 bombs on the season and contributed to last night’s win with a two-run shot.
On the home side of the field, Kirby has been pitching extremely well of late, winning four of his five starts in July for a second-place Seattle club. The 27-year-old will go up against some red-hot South Sider bats. Despite a two-game losing streak, the Sox have been experiencing a much-needed recent offensive surge. Over their past 15 games, they boast a team batting average of .278 with 24 homers. Luis Robert Jr., Colson Montgomery, and Lenyn Sosa have been key reasons for the boost. La Pantera leads the team with 46 RBIs, Montgomery has eight dingers over his last 12 games, and Sosa is slashing .352/.400/.556 over a 15-game stretch.
