Seiya Suzuki reached double figures in home runs for the fourth straight Major League Baseball season as the Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 5-2 on Monday.
The fourth-year player slugged his 10th of the year with a two-run shot to complete the Cubs’ five-run fifth inning at Wrigley Field, pulling a 3-2 four-seamer from Marlins reliever Anthony Veneziano to left-center field with two outs.

Dansby Swanson belted a two-run shot off Marlins starter Cal Quantrill (2-4) and Kyle Tucker tripled off Veneziano earlier in the frame.
“I wanted to hit it before getting to a full count, but I couldn’t hit fat pitches,” said Suzuki, who went deep for the first time in 10 games.
“I had a random swing and ended up hitting one. I’d say it’s a miracle.”
Derek Hill had a two-run homer for the Marlins in the seventh.
Yusei Kikuchi is still waiting for his first win with the Los Angeles Angels, meanwhile, as he allowed four runs, two earned, on seven hits over six innings in their 9-5 comeback victory over the San Diego Padres.
Kikuchi, who struck out four and walked two, made a throwing error in the third to allow the Padres to score two runs and lead 3-2. He got the hook with his team trailing 4-3 before the Angels scored six runs in the ninth to turn the game.
