BRANDON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -Luke Bormann hit the first pitch of the State “B” Amateur Baseball Tournament in Brandon for a single. And he later scored on a sac fly by Cullen Verville who finished the night with 5 RBI’s thanks to a 3-run double in a 6-run 9th inning.
The Mudcats went on to win 10-2 thanks to 7 strong innings from Jake Weber and some sparkling defensive plays. And will face Alexandria in the second round after the Angels dominated Lake Norden.
Alex scored 6 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd and 3 more in the 4th of a game that was halted in the 5th inning with the score 15-0.
Alex Ferrin gave up just 2 hits in 5 innings and struck out 6. Tyson Gau scored 4 runs for the Angels who had 5 different players with 2 RBI’s in just 4 innings at the plate. All 9 starters had a base hit!
