MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. — Hannibal senior pitcher Colton Dryden was lights out in his first start after returning from injury.
Dryden struck out 12 Montgomery County batters and allowed just two hits and one walk in the Pirates 10-1 road win over the Wildcats on Monday.
Dryden had pitched a scoreless inning in relief during last Tuesday’s 15-11 win over Clark County.
Pirates second baseman Patrick Arthaud led the way for Hannibal by going 3-for-3 with a walk, triple, three RBIs and a run.
Hannibal third baseman Gavin Dudley went 3-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs at the bottom of the order.
Pirates designated hitter Reid Holliday went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs, while center fielder Cooper Scott went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base.
With Monday’s win, Hannibal moved to the .500 mark for the first time this season in its third victory in a row. It was also the first time the Pirates scored double-digit runs in two consecutive games.
Up next for Hannibal (13-13) is a road game against Highland (3-14-1) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
