Pecko made his Triple-A debut and after striking out the side in the first, he allowed 5 runs in the 2nd inning. The offense got on the board with back to back homers from Melton and Matthews in the 3rd inning. The Sugar Land bullpen pitched well but the offense was unable to score again as they fell 5-2.
Note: Matthews has a .886 OPS in Triple-A.
Urias got the start for the Hooks and went 3 innings allowing 6 runs, 4 earned. The offense got on the board in the first scoring a run on a balk and another run in the 3rd on a Martinez RBI single. The bullpen struggled allowing another 8 runs as the Drillers extended their lead. Spence hit an RBI double in the 9th but that was it from the offense as the Hooks fell 14-3.
Note: Spence has a .785 OPS this season.
Pinto started for Asheville and pitched well tossing 5.1 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board in the 6th inning on a Janek RBI single and Nunez RBI groundout. McPherson pitched in relief and allowed 1 run in the 7th and then 2 runs in the 9th as the Grasshoppers took the lead. The offense was unable to come back as Asheville fell 3-2.
Gonzalez got the start and allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 3 innings. The offense got on the board in the second inning on a Schiavone RBI single. Brown tossed 3 scoreless and Landeta allowed an unearned run over 2 innings in his Single-A debut but the offense was quiet the rest of the way Woodpeckers fell 5-1.
Note: Huezo is hitting .444 in Single-A.
