The current 2025 MLB payoff picture is starting to come into focus as the calendar switches to August. There are some fun baseball battles on the horizon.

Every team recently crossed the 100-game threshold, giving fans a good sense of who will make the playoffs. The next two months will bring some important games, as they are all important. Here is a look at the current playoff picture and some teams to watch for.

The Blue Jays have the best record in baseball, and they are the top contenders in the AL. The last time they had the best record was when they won a World Series Title in 1992. With the Tigers on a losing streak, it shifts the battle for the top spots in the AL.

Tigers find themselves in a tight battle with the Astros, which should be fun. Only two games separate the Astros, Tigers, and Blue Jays for the top spot. Also, they each have a 90 percent chance of making the postseason, so it’s more about the seeding.

Whereas the AL has a good idea of who holds the top three playoff spots, the NL is still uncertain. The Brewers and Phillies remain in the mix for their divisions. Also, the Dodgers are the only team with a good lead in their respective divisions, and the Cubs are in a good spot in the NL Central.

Meanwhile, the AL wild card is starting to become a fun battle between the Red Sox, Mariners, Rays, and Rangers, who are fighting for the final two wild cards. The Yankees have a strong hold on the top wild-card spot.

Given how close the standings are, the NL wild card may come down to the wire. The Padres seem to hold the second wild card spot behind the Phillies, while the Giants and Reds are in a tight race for the final spot. However, there are two months left of the season, so things could change on the wild card front.

The last part of the season could bring some fun matchups and scoreboard watching. Fans should keep an eye on these races. Stay tuned for more sports and entertainment news.
