MINDEN – For the second time in as many days, Wayne Rolling Hills Supply faced off with Empire Netting & Fence (Waverly) Wednesday, this time it was for the Class B National Division Championship.
Just like on Tuesday, Wayne struggled against Waverly, being outhit 13-4 as they dropped a 12-3 decision.
Waverly opened the scoring in the second after Crew Verkamp homered to left field, scoring three runs.
A home run ot left field by Drew Koch and a double by Trevor Roesler helped Waerly extend their lead early in the third inning.
Wayle would score one run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo homer to left field by Kaleb Moormeier.
Gavin Redden stated the game for Wayne, allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits with a walk and a strikeout over three innings worked.
Bruin Sampson opened the game for Waverly, surrendering three runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts in five innings pitched.
Moormeier had the most productive outing for Wayne, grabbing two hits and two RBIs in his two plate appearances.
Wayne ends the season with a 25-5 record.
