Happy Sunday, Sox fans! Today, the Chicago White Sox look to build off of their 10-4 record since the All-Star break with a series sweep against the Angels. After securing the series win last night with a 1-0 win and one-hit outing from the pitching staff, they will play one last game against the Halos.
Before the pitching matchups, let’s catch up on some pregame news.
With Miguel Vargas heading to the IL, Curtis Mead will make his White Sox debut. Mead was acquired just days ago from the Tampa Bay Rays in the Adrian Houser trade, and has a .226 BA with three home runs, eight RBIs and four stolen bases.
Sean Burke will be on the bump for the South Siders, as he has a 4-8 record, 4.17 ERA, and 1.41 WHIP. His last outing was against the Chicago Cubs, going 4 2⁄3 IP with five hits, two runs, one walk and eight strikeouts. Hopefully he can keep the walk ratio down, and the strikeout ratio up.
Righty Jack Kochanowicz is on the mound for the Halos, with a 3-9 record, 5.75 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 98 2⁄3 IP. He made his MLB debut last season, and was a 2019 third-round draft pick by the Angels. His last few outings have been on the shorter side, as he has faced the Texas Rangers his last two starts, giving up eight earned runs in one start, and zero in the next. This will be his 21st start of the season.
Edgar Quero and Kyle Teel hitting back-to-back? A dream concept.
Game time is at 3:07 p.m. CT, and you can watch on CHSN and listen on ESPN 1000.
