Last Saturday, with the Red Sox in possession of a 7-3 lead in the seventh inning over the Houston Astros, Houston reliever Hector Neris came to the set and proceeded to quite purposely drop the ball on the mound. That resulted in a balk being called, allowing baserunner Trevor Story to advance from second to third.

Neris then retired the next hitter for the final out of the inning. As the teams left the field, Red Sox third base coach Kyle Hudson said something in jest as he jogged past Neris, drawing an angry reaction from Neris and a heated response. Within seconds, tempers flared and the benches emptied before order was quickly restored.
