PHOENIX, Ariz. — Less than a year removed from a Northwest League championship and MVP-winning season with the Spokane Indians, third baseman Kyle Karros has been called up by the Colorado Rockies and will make his MLB debut on Aug. 8.
Karros has been tearing up the minor leagues for two years, winning Northwest League MVP honors after hitting .311 with 15 home runs in 123 games. He started the 2025 season with the Hartford Yard Goats, hitting .294 in 55 games in Connecticut before being promoted to Albuquerque in July.
The Rockies needed to see only 16 games of Karros in Triple-A before they called him up. A .306 batting average with 19 hits in 16 games led to the decision for Karros to be moved to the Rockies.
Karros is ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the Rockies’ organization and is the second-highest prospect to make his MLB debut behind 22-year-old Yanquiel Fernández.
Karros will play third base and bat eighth for the Rockies during his debut. The Rockies are 30-84 and in last place in the NL West. Karros could play his way into the everyday starter role for the Rockies next season and have a full season in the majors.
