Braves-Marlins Series To Have First Woman MLB Umpire

Jen Pawol will become the first woman umpire to take to the field in an MLB game when the Marlins face the Braves in a three-game series on Aug. 9-10.

On Aug. 9, former West Milford High School softball and soccer star Jen Pawol will make Major League Baseball history.

She’ll become the first woman to umpire a regular-season game when she works both games of a Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves doubleheader. The following day, she’ll work behind the plate for the first time.

All three games will be broadcast locally, but fortunately for North Jerseyans, there are ways to watch her games from the Garden State.

How to watch Marlins vs Braves on Aug. 9

The first game of the Aug. 9 doubleheader, which begins at 1:15 p.m., will be broadcast nationally on MLB Network. (The game is only available outside of the Atlanta and Miami markets.)

MLB Network is available on many cable packages.

If you don’t have MLB Network, the game can be seen on MLB.TV, which can be purchased through the MLB app or Fubo app on a smart TV, tablet or mobile device.

The second game of the Aug. 9 doubleheader, which is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. is only available outside of the local markets via MLB.TV.

Like the second game of the Aug. 9 doubleheader, the Aug. 10 game is only available outside of local markets via MLB.TV. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:35 p.m.

West Milford High School will be hosting a watch party for that game, beginning with a tailgate at noon.
