For the first time in more than 20 years, there are new Chan Ho Park autographs available to collectors. The new cards released by Topps have set off a firestorm of activity on the secondary market for a former Los Angeles Dodger that some collectors probably haven’t thought about in years.

That’s because for collectors like Jae Kim, Park isn’t just some retired pitcher meant to be stashed among the forgotten commons.

Park, who in 1994 showed off an incredibly high leg kick while becoming the first native South Korean to appear in the major leagues, has a unique collector base. Not only does he have a dedicated fanbase in America full of those who remember his trail-blazing beginnings with the Dodgers, he also has plenty of collectors in his homeland.

“It’s driven by a lot of cultural heritage and pride in these Korean collectors, even if they are based in the U.S.,” said Kim, a 46-year-old Seoul native whose family moved to America when he was a 1-year-old. “But a significant amount of them are based in Korea … and I know other people who aren’t Korean but are of Asian descent who collect Park too, just like I collect some [Japanese star Hideo] Nomo stuff.”

But none of the collectors on either side of the Pacific Ocean have ever had many of Park’s autographs to collect – and what they did have were often low-numbered and hard to find.

Park’s last widespread certified autographs came out in 2002. Before this year, his last cards came as autograph redemptions from 2016 Panini products, but there is no indication those cards were ever signed or publicly released.

Further complicating the matter for anyone hoping to acquire a Park autograph card before now is that many of those older autograph cards got permanently locked up in personal collections over the past two decades, so they rarely come up for public sale today.

“I had plenty of opportunities to pick those up back then, but I didn’t have a lot of disposable income at the time and always just said, ‘I’ll pick one up later,’” said Kim, who has acquired most of Park’s rarest 1990s inserts and parallels and has impressive collections of several other Korean players. “It didn’t hit me how rare the autos were until later.”

Kim’s story of regret is likely one of many, which helps explain why the pent-up demand among Park’s collectors has left his 2025 Topps and Topps Chrome autographs outselling some Hall of Famers from the same sets.

Park is also included on the upcoming 2025 Topps Finest Creators Autographs checklist, though it remains to be seen if he will be included in additional products later in the year.

But, it seems safe to say, any additional Park autographs released this year will have a flurry of activity on the secondary market.

A Guide to Chan Ho Park Autographs

The following is a guide to all of Park’s Topps autographs released from 2025 sets so far, and a look back at the few certified autographs he had during his playing career.

2025 Bowman Bowman Buybacks

Park’s first appearance in 2025 came as part of the Buyback Autographs in 2025 Bowman Baseball.

Topps has not announced exactly which of Park’s cards or how many of each were signed, but public online sales have revealed print runs for at least the following cards:

1994 Bowman RC /2

1996 Bowman /3

1996 Bowman’s Best /3

2001 Bowman Heritage /5

2005 Bowman Heritage /2

Sales on eBay for these Buybacks have all finished over $500, including one of the signed rookie cards that was bid up to $2,250.

2025 Topps Series 2 ’90 Topps Autographs #90B2PARK

The first widely available Chan Ho Park autograph came from 2025 Topps Series 2 in the ’90 Topps Throwback Autographs set.

While there are many numbered parallels of the card, the base version is only the second unnumbered Park autograph ever released – the first being his 2001 Donruss Signature Stats Master Series Autograph.

Park’s ’90 Topps Autograph comes in the following parallels:

Gold /50

Orange /25

Black /10

Red /5

Platinum /1

2025 Topps Chrome Legends Autographs #CLACP

Limited to only /50, Park’s 2025 Topps Chrome Legends Autograph features a swirling on-card signature below an excellent action shot of his pitching motion. Topps gave the Legends Autographs a Refractor finish, an “awesome” detail, according to Kim, who scooped up one of the first examples of this card to hit the secondary market.

Park’s Legends Autograph comes in the following parallels:

Orange /25

Black /10

Red /5

Superfractor /1

Printing Plates /1

Interestingly, another former Dodger in the Legends set, Orel Hershiser, is experiencing a similar uptick in demand, as Hershiser’s card represents his first fully licensed certified autograph card since 2005.

2025 Topps Chrome Chromographs #CHRCP

Park’s 2025 Topps Chrome Chromograph Autograph is also numbered to /50 and has likewise been a fast seller on the secondary market.

Unlike his Legends autograph, the Chromographs card showcases a different signature – scratched out in Korean Hangul writing. In addition to the enhanced signature, this card is arguably more aesthetically pleasing from a design-standpoint, showing a baseball diamond and baseball seams in the background.

The card comes in the following parallels:

Orange /25

Black /10

Red /5

Superfractor /1

Past Chan Ho Park Autograph Cards

Many of these older Chan Ho Park Autograph cards are very difficult to find in today’s market, but here is a look back at his previously released autographs.

2005 Donruss Signature INKcredible Combos #29

Park has a very rare autographed card from 2005 Donruss Signature – an INKcredible Combos 1/1 dual autograph with Jae Weong Seo, another South Korean pitcher.

2002 Donruss Best of Fan Club League Leaders Autographs #LL16

Park signed 15 examples of his 2002 Donruss Best of Fan Club League Leaders Autographs card, which recognizes his fourth-place finish in the National League strikeout race in 2001. For the League Leaders insert set, there were 300 of each card produced, though only a specific number of cards in each player’s production run got autographed. In Park’s case, that meant only the first 15 serial-numbered cards were signed, making his autograph tied for the rarest in the set.

2002 Leaf Clubhouse Signatures Gold #12

The 2002 Leaf Clubhouse Signatures set came in three tiers – Bronze, Silver, and Gold – but Park only appears in the rare /25 Gold version.

2002 Upper Deck Global Swatch Game Jersey Autographs #SGSCP

Park’s appearance in the 2002 Upper Deck Global Swatch Game Jersey Autographs is yet another rare offering – once again, only 25 were set to be made. The set’s checklist includes five players born outside of the United States, and these cards could only be pulled from Series 1 packs.

However, there is spectulation among collectors that Park’s card from this set was never released.

2001 Donruss Class of 2001 First Class Autographs #53

The 2001 Donruss Class of 2001 First Class Autographs do not have a defined production run, with cards numbered to either /100, /50, /25, or /15. As you may have guessed, Park falls into the rarest category, as one of the 10 players whose offering only has 15 examples in existence.

2001 Donruss Signature Series Stats Masters Series Autographs #39

In the 2001 Donruss Signature Series Stats Masters Series Autographs, Park’s strikeout prowess is examined. Until the 2025 Topps ’90 Topps Retro Autograph, this was Park’s only unnumbered autograph card – though there is a rare parallel, a version numbered to /18.

Bonus Pick: 2011 Japanese BBM Chan Ho Park Autographs

Park pitched in America until 2010, then spent the 2011 season split between the Orix Blue Wave and Orix Buffaloes in Japan, leading to appearances on Japanese BBM baseball cards that year. This card, pictured from Kim’s collection, is Park’s 2011 BBM Legend of the B’s /60 Autograph.

Another autograph, a vertical /59 offering, was released as part of the 2011 BBM Orix Buffaloes Team Issue.
