Happy Sunday! The Chicago White Sox will play the Cleveland Guardians this afternoon to end this three-game series, as they look to avoid the sweep. After a red-hot start coming out of the All-Star break, it seems that the team has hit a bump in the road, and have now lost six straight. The Guardians have been known to be pretty dominant over the South Siders as of late, so hopefully the team can salvage a win before a hard series against the Detroit Tigers starting tomorrow.

Davis Martin will be on the mound against Guardians righty Slade Cecconi. Martin is 3-9 this season with a 4.11 ERA, and 1.29 WHIP. He has been up and down as of late, and each of his last three outings have been into the fifth inning. His last game against the Seattle Mariners he went five innings with seven hits, five earned runs, two walks, and five strikeouts.

Cecconi is in his first year with the Guardians, as he was part of the trade for Josh Naylor when the Arizona Diamondbacks originally traded for him last offseason. He was drafted by the DBacks in 2020, and made his MLB debut in 2023. So far this season, he is 5-4 with a 3.72 ERA, and 1.19 WHIP. His last outing against the New York Mets was solid, as he went six innings with four hits, two runs, one walk, and six strikeouts. He is appearing in his 15th game of the season.

Mike Tauchman will lead it off, followed by Lenyn Sosa and Andrew Benintendi. Luis Robert Jr. and Colson Montgomery take up the middle of the order, as Curtis Mead is at first and Kyle Teel is behind the dish. Brooks Baldwin takes left, and Josh Rojas rounds it out at third base.

Game time is at 1:10 p.m. CT. Watch on CHSN, and listen in this afternoon only on WGN 720 with Len and DJ (also being produced by me.)
