Waldron allowed four runs on four hits, striking out two. Miguel Cienfuegos allowed six walks and four runs in two innings of work, and Jake Higginbotham recorded three innings in relief, allowing three runs. Marcos Castanon – 1-for-3, RBI Single
Jared Kollar – 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 2 K (70 pitches – 48 strikes)

Marcos Castanon hit an RBI single in the fourth inning to score the first run of the game. Moises Gomez had one hit in the game, a double in the seventh that scored a run. Albert Fabian had a base hit, scoring a run and showing off the arm on an outfield assist from left field to first base.
Jared Kollar pitched four scoreless innings before Springfield scored four against him in the fifth inning. A two-run triple, single, and sac fly double play led to four Cardinals runs. Ryan Och allowed two unearned runs in 1.2 innings, and Misael Tamarez struck out one in 1.1 innings. Garrett Hawkins again pitched a scoreless frame, extending his scoreless streak yet again.
Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 4-1 vs South Bend) (50-56 on the season)

Ryan Jackson – 1-for-3, Double, RBI
Will Varmette – 3.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 5 K (77 pitches – 49 strikes)
Fort Wayne’s lineup struggled after a pair of promising performances, falling 4-1. Ryan Jackson was the lone TinCap to record an RBI, with an RBI groundout in the fifth inning. Kasen Wells had two singles and scored a run. Braedon Karpathios and Victor Duarte each had a single, with Karpathios pulling off the team’s only successful stolen base.
Will Varmette pitched into the fourth inning, allowing three runs. Varmette struck out five batters while walking three; his performances have shown flashes of his early season ace-like outings, but more consistency would be needed for him to stick as a starter. CJ Widger allowed one run on two hits in 1.1 innings of relief. Eiker Huizi and Luis German combined for three scoreless innings in relief.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 4-1 vs Rancho Cucamonga) (48-59 on the season)

Right-hander Bryan Balzer pitched one of his very best outings of the season. Balzer pitched 3.2 innings and allowed only one earned run. Balzer struck out four batters, a strong showing after his recent struggles. Johan Moreno struck out five of nine batters faced, turning the ball over to Igor Gil. Gil walked three and gave up three runs (one earned), recording only two outs. Vicarte Domingo struck out two of four batters faced.
Kale Fountain and Dylan Grego had the Storm’s two hits all game. Fountain’s RBI single in the first scored Grego, and the only run of the game for Lake Elsinore. Carlos Rodriguez threw three walks, but the two stranded five base runners in the loss.
