It’s rubber match time! After an encouraging win on Friday and a disappointing loss on Saturday, the San Francisco Giants will host the Washington Nationals this afternoon for a series finale, with victory on the line.

The Giants are handing the ball to veteran right-hander Justin Verlander, who makes his 20th start of the year. Despite having a record of 1-8, Verlander’s season numbers have been decent, with a 4.29 ERA, a 4.18 FIP, and 81 strikeouts against 35 walks in 94.1 innings. He’s pitched five innings in each of his last three outings, and allowed just one earned run during that time.

On the other side is left-hander MacKenzie Gore, who makes his 24th start of the year. The 26-year old, who was an All-Star this year, has a 4-12 record, with a 4.29 ERA, a 3.70 FIP, and 148 strikeouts against 46 walks in 126 innings. He got destroyed in his last game, giving up eight runs in three innings against the Athletics.

Enjoy the game, everyone! Go Giants!
