The Binghamton Rumble Ponies suffered a 2-0 loss to the Somerset Patriots Sunday evening.

Binghamton was limited to just four hits as the teams split the six-game series.

Jonah Tong (NY Mets No. 2 prospect) started on the mound for the Rumble Ponies and continued his stellar season. He allowed just three hits and one run while racking up eight strikeouts across five innings of work. Tong now has a minor league-leading 162 strikeouts across 102 innings this season to go along with a 1.59 ERA.

Two of the New York Yankees’ top prospects delivered at the plate for Somerset. George Lombard Jr. (Yankees No. 1 prospect) had an RBI double in the victory while Brendan Jones (NYY No. 20 prospect) laced an RBI triple. Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz, the No. 6 prospect in the Yankees’ system, was dominant on the mound Sunday. He struck out seven over six shutout innings.

Binghamton is now 71-35 overall and 26-13 in the second half. The Rumble Ponies are off Monday before beginning a home series with New Hampshire Tuesday night.
