The Knights took care of business on Sunday to split their road series against Syracuse (60-54).

Shortstop Jacob Gonzalez, 23, is already making his presence felt at the Triple-A level. Gonzalez was promoted on July 26 and is still new to the Knights, but he has been very reliable at the plate. This week, Gonzalez went 5-for-18 with two homers, a double, six RBIs, and five walks. The White Sox selected Gonzalez in the first round in 2023, and the early returns are positive for the young infielder. Gonzalez is No. 9 in MLB Pipeline’s latest Top 30 White Sox Prospects rankings, and he has quite a bit of upside potential, especially considering his premium position. In 12 games since his promotion, Gonzalez is slashing .250/.388/.500 for the Knights. That will get the job done and then some.

I regret to inform you that the Barons lost more than one game this week. This truly is a shocker, as this has not happened since their series against the Lookouts (56-47) from July 1 through July 6. Even though this lastest series did not go as well as the Barons hoped, they still managed to split the games against those Lookouts.

Catcher Calvin Harris, 23, delivered in a big way this week. Harris went 6-for-11, and he stole a base in his only attempt. Overall, Harris is slashing .267/.341/.354 on the season, as he has found ways to get on base while providing valuable, reliable defense behind the plate. In 463 2/3 innings behind the plate, Harris has only been charged with three passed balls, and his arm is much improved from last year. Opposing base runners went 102-for-121 (84.3%) on stolen base attempts against Harris in 2024, but in 2025 they are only 54-for-74 (73.0%) against him.

The Dash had another decent week, picking up another series split. This time, they faced Bowling Green (57-49) on the road.

Infielder Jeral Perez, 20, who primarily plays second base but also sees time at shortstop, was unstoppable this week. Perez was all over Bowling Green pitching, finishing 9-for-20 with two homers, a double, five walks, and five RBIs. This incredible series resulted in a sky-high 1.360 OPS, as opposing pitchers had no answers for him. Perez improved his overall slash line from .220/.292/.417 to .231/.307/.437, and given how late it is in the season, that is a sizable boost to happen in only a week.

The Cannon Ballers remained afloat, splitting their six-game series against the Salem Red Sox (45-61).

Shortstop Caleb Bonemer, 19, cannot be promoted soon enough. Bonemer has now won four Cannon Baller of the Week awards in the past five weeks. This week, Bonemer went 5-for-16 with two doubles, five walks, and he led the team with five RBIs. Bonemer could hardly be stopped by Salem’s pitching staff, and pitchers in general are having trouble retiring him. The White Sox second round pick of 2024 is taking care of business, and is far ahead of the most aggressive schedule for him. Overall, Bonemer is slashing .275/.401/.437 and providing solid defense at a premium defensive position.

Well, how about that? There was yet another another series split, as the DSL White Sox broke even in their six games to remain three games under .500.

Shortstop Yordani Soto, 17, was on top of his game, providing some serious value offensively and defensively. Soto went 5-for-11 with a walk, a hit by pitch, and three RBIs. In addition, Soto made his time on base count, as he swiped three bases without getting caught. Soto spent a lot of time on base, as he reached base safely in more than half of his plate appearances. Bravo to Soto on a terrific week, and he is now slashing .262/.419/.299 with 19 stolen bases in 24 attempts overall (79.2%).
