“We can go on a run,” Brandon Nimmo said Sunday when asked about the club’s NL East chances. “We’ve still got time. But it just takes putting it together, playing some good baseball.

“But, no, I don’t think the division is slipping away.”

The Mets began an off-day Monday 5 ½ games behind the Phillies, their largest deficit of the season in a division they led as recently as Aug. 2.
