WAUNAKEE, Wis. — The Waunakee Warriors have a new head baseball coach, and he’s someone who knows the school well.
Cooper Holewinski, who served as an assistant coach for the last two years, will now be taking over head coaching duties. Holewinski is a Middleton grad who played collegiate baseball at Edgewood.
“Coach Holewinski brings a strong foundation of leadership and an authentic commitment to developing young athletes,” Waunakee athletic director Nick Conrad said. “What stood out most during the hiring process was his ability to build genuine relationships with players and his strength as a teacher of the game.”
Waunakee had a rough 2025 season, finishing sixth in the Badger-Large with a 12-16 record, 4-10 in conference play. Holewinski will hope to right the ship and replicate the success he had as a player with Middleton, where he won two regional championships and a conference title.
“This program has a rich tradition of producing great baseball and an even better tradition of producing great young men,” Holewinski said. “I look forward to continuing my mission of teaching this great game and showing our student athletes how baseball prepares them for all the wins and losses life throws their way.”
Holewinski takes over for Micah Thingvold, who led the Warriors since 2022.
