Looking to sweep the doubleheader vs Miami, the Braves were hoping that Erick Fedde could best former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara.
Things went well for the first few innings, as both pitchers managed scattered baserunners (including a well-hit Harris single) through three scoreless innings. The scoring started in the fourth, as the Marlins struck first. A single, double, single, walk, single combination scored four runs for Miami, as BABIP and a passed ball hurt Fedde. Marcell Ozuna brought one run back in the bottom of the frame via an absolute bomb of a solo homer.
The Fedde worked around a few more baserunners for a scoreless fifth to end his outing with 5.0 innings of four run ball. The Braves offense came back for more in the bottom of the fifth, as a Profar single and an Olson walk started the rally. Drake Baldwin collected another RBI with a single, as he has been bringing in loads of runs lately. Marcell Ozuna followed Drake with another blast, this time of the three run variety, giving Atlanta a 5-4 lead.
Aaron Bummer came in for the sixth and worked a 1-2-3 inning. The Braves offense showed up AGAIN in the bottom of the sixth, as Brujan singled, followed by walks from Williams and Profar. Olson brought home a run on a single and Drake Baldwin bagged another two RBIs with a single of his own, making it an 8-6 ballgame. The Marlins grabbed two runs back in the seventh on Bummer and Daysbel Hernandez on four singles and a walk, as BABIP continued to be Miami’s friend.

Those were Miami’s last baserunners of the evening, however, as Austin Cox was dominant and Raisel Iglesias got the save to clinch the doubleheader sweep.
