ROFF — The Roff High School baseball and softball teams opened their 2025 fall seasons over the weekend.

The Tigers went 2-1 to start things off. They snagged a 13-2 win over local foe Tupelo before splitting a pair of games Saturday at the Roff Festival.

Coach Derek Collins’ team dropped a 13-6 decision to perennial fall powerhouse Fort Cobb-Broxton before scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun Stonewall 8-7.

Collins said with several changes to his roster combined with a summer full of rainouts, his team could be a work in progress early on.

“My expectation is to have my players all on the same page by the time the playoffs arrive. We expect to be playing the final week of the season, whether it be in Class A or Class B,” he said. “We had lots of turnover but having some returning guys will help with the growing pains.”

Seniors on this year’s Roff team include returnees Trey Humphers, Gavin Wilson and Jaxon Austin, along with newcomers Tucker Miller from Vanoss and Camden Wright from Latta.

Roff looks to bounce back from a 2024 fall season that saw the Tigers finish with just 10 total wins. The tradition-rich Tigers made seven consecutive fall state tournaments from 2017 to 2023.

“I think it’s just integrating our system to the new kids and relying on the leadership from our returners to instill that into the new players,” Collins said.

The Tigers host Moss Mondayand Vanoss travels to Tiger Field at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Roff fastpitch team slid past Soper 7-1 Friday to get their season off to a good start. The Lady Tigers travel to Coalgate Monday and host Allen at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
