As the Cubs appear headed for a postseason berth — even if not the NL Central title — this will be of interest to you, the Cubs fan.

If the Cubs are the top wild-card team (and thus the No. 4 overall seed in the National League), a spot they currently hold, they would host all three games of a wild card series beginning Tuesday, Sept. 30. The wild-card series go three consecutive days (if necessary), all at the higher seed. All wild-card games will be televised on various ESPN channels and platforms.

This year’s division series will begin Saturday, Oct. 4, in the home fields of the teams with the better record, which in these series will be the two teams in each league that win division titles and get byes out of the wild-card round. Fox channels will carry American League division series games and TBS channels will carry National League division series games.

The ALCS will begin Sunday, Oct. 12 and the NLCS Monday, Oct. 13, again at the home fields of the teams with the better regular-season record. Again, Fox carries AL postseason games this year and TBS will do NLCS games.

The World Series will begin Friday, Oct. 25, in the home of the team with the better 2025 record. You might recall that the Cubs didn’t get home field in the 2016 World Series because that was the last year of the ill-conceived Bud Selig 14-year “experiment” to give home field in the WS to the league that won the All-Star Game. Since 2017 it’s been the team with the better record that has had home field advantage in the World Series.

Here’s the full 2025 postseason schedule. Here’s hoping the Cubs go on a run over the last 45 games of 2025 so they can qualify for home field at some point this October.
