After a dominant recent stretch of pitching, the Seattle Mariners promoted right-hander Ryan Sloan to High-A Everett on Sunday.

Top Seattle Mariners pick Anderson debuts high on top 100 prospect lists

Sloan, who is just 19 years old, posted a 1.58 ERA with 34 strikeouts to just six walks over 34 innings in his eight starts prior to the promotion. The 2024 second-round went 2-2 with a 3.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 77 strikeouts and 15 walks over 70 2/3 innings in 18 total starts with Single-A Modesto.

With the promotion to High-A, Sloan became the third-youngest player in the Northwest League.

Sloan is the fifth-ranked prospect in the Mariners’ farm system and No. 42 across baseball, per MLB Pipeline. He’s Pipeline’s sixth-ranked right-handed pitcher and the second youngest in their top 10, trailing only 2025 No. 6 overall pick Seth Hernandez.

Sloan was Illinois’ Gatorade State Player of the Year coming out York Community High School in 2024. He was projected as a potential first-round pick before landing with the M’s in the second round, but received a signing bonus in line with a first-rounder at $3 million, which was well over the $1,641,800 slot value for the No. 55 overall pick.

Emerson hits 1st Double-A HR

On the same night switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje made his Double-A debut, top Mariners prospect Colt Emerson swatted his first home run with the Arkansas Travelers.

In a 3-2 count with two outs in top of the eighth inning on Saturday night, Emerson clubbed a three-run shot into right-center field off Frisco RoughRiders right-hander Ryan Lobus. The home run helped the Travelers rally from down four runs in the eighth in an eventual 6-5 win in 10 innings.

In six Double-A games entering Tuesday, the 20-year-old Emerson was 5 for 24 (.208 average) with two extra-base hits and three RBIs.

The left-handed hitting shortstop is Seattle’s top-ranked prospect by various publications and the No. 11 prospect in all of baseball, according to Pipeline.

Ford remains hot

Catching prospect Harry Ford has continued to add to his stellar season with Triple-A Tacoma.

Ford, 22, entered Tuesday with hits in 14 of his past 15 games and four doubles and five homers during that stretch.

Seattle’s fourth-ranked prospect, per Pipeline, was hitting .299 with a .416 on-base percentage, .898 OPS, 18 doubles, 14 home runs and 68 RBIs in 85 Triple-A games entering Tuesday. He was second in the Pacific Coast League in on-base percentage and led primary catchers in hits (98), RBIs and walks (60).
