The Texas Rangers have placed shortstop Corey Seager on the 10 day injured list, the team announced today. To take his place on the active roster, the Rangers have activated catcher Kyle Higashioka from the injured list.
Seager had a brief stint a couple of weeks on the injured list with a hamstring issue, has been back for a week or so, but has missed four of the past five games. We discussed yesterday that, when Jake Burger was called up but Higashioka was not activated, it was possible that the decision on activating Higashioka was being put off until a decision was made as to whether Seager would need to go back on the i.l.
The Rangers now have three catchers on the active roster, as Tucker Barnhart and Jonah Heim are still here.
