MLB Picks and Player Props August 13, 2025
Brandon Lowe 2+ total bases (+105) vs. Athletics
Lowe is in a great matchup tonight in Sacramento against Athletics starter JT Ginn. Ginn is a sinkerball pitcher, throwing that pitch nearly 50% of the time. Against sinkers from right-handed pitchers, Lowe has posted absurd numbers this season, boasting a massive .538 wOBA and a .448 ISO. Expanding the data to include last year, Lowe owns a .494 wOBA and a .350 ISO. With the game taking place in Sacramento and the wind blowing out, there are plenty of reasons to like Lowe in this matchup to record at least two total bases.
Trevor Rogers over 2.5 earned runs allowed (+115) vs. Seattle Mariners
Rogers has looked like the version of himself we last saw in 2021. That year, through 133 innings, he posted a 2.64 ERA with a 3.37 xERA and a 2.55 FIP. This season, through 62.1 innings, he’s sporting a phenomenal 1.44 ERA and a 3.25 xERA. Even with nearly a two-run gap between his ERA and xERA, he’s been fantastic. Still, some regression seems inevitable — and tonight’s matchup could be where it shows.
The Mariners are red hot at the plate, going 9-1 over their last 10 games. Against lefties, they crush four-seam fastballs — a pitch Rogers throws 42% of the time. Tonight’s projected Mariners lineup owns a combined .352 wOBA and .227 ISO against that pitch. The top of their order will feel like a gauntlet, with the first five hitters each carrying at least a .372 wOBA against it. I think they have a strong chance to break through against Rogers tonight and tag him for at least three earned runs.
Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees under 4.5 runs through first five innings (-125)
Keep an eye on the weather for this game, as rain is expected to be in the area tonight.
If they do play, I’m not expecting much offense early — especially with Joe Ryan on the mound for the Twins. He’s been nearly as good as advertised, posting a 2.79 ERA, 3.16 xERA, and 3.19 FIP. He’s averaging more than a strikeout per inning and has the lowest HR/9 of his career at 1.02. Ryan has also been better on the road, with a .262 wOBA allowed and a 3.45 FIP.
I do expect the Twins to get to Cam Schlittler, who has surrendered at least two earned runs in all five of his starts. But with how well Ryan has been pitching, I think we can still safely take the under on the 4.5 total through the first five innings.
Good luck with your MLB picks and player props for August 13, 2025!
