GRAND CHUTE (WLUK) — American Family Field has been buzzing during the Brewers’ 11-game win streak, but Fox Cities Stadium seems to be the next-best spot for baseball fans — especially when checking out future Brewers stars.

On Tuesday night, it was a packed Fox Cities Stadium to watch future Brewers players, 90 miles north of Milwaukee — where the Brewers are seemingly unbeatable.

“They are so exciting. I watch the highlights every night,” said Ed from Neenah.

“They are just on fire,” said Michael from Appleton.

“It is pretty exciting,” added Preston from Appleton.

Said Ryan from Appleton: “It’s just amazing.”

Longtime fans say this run evokes memories of the Brewers’ last pennant-winning team.

“Back in ’82…” said Michael.

He’s referencing the 1982 team that fell one game short of a World Series title. The current Brewers team entered Tuesday with a 10-game win streak, and extended it to 11 with a 14-0 win over the Pirates.

“It’s a great time to be a Brewers fan,” said Wisconsin Timber Rattlers President Rob Zerjav. “Obviously in Wisconsin, here to see the Brewers, you watch the Brewers play and you don’t expect them ever to lose, and then to have their top two prospects here.”

Those two prospects are Jesús Made and Luis Peña, who are among the best in all the minor leagues.

“It’s going to be fun to see them play, see what they’re all about, get their autographs,” said one fan.

“They raise them up from within, and these guys, you never know what they’re gonna do,” said Ed.

Jesús Made and Luis Peña are just 18 years old, born in 2006 and 2007, respectively. They hope they can contribute in Milwaukee eventually.

“[I] watch the games regularly, and feel very grateful that [I’m] in an organization that competes at the highest level,” said Made through translator Marcelo Alfonsín.

“[I] like the way they hustle everyday,” said Peña through Alfonsín. “[I like] the way Pat Murphy is on top of guys everyday. And [I think] that that’s why they go out there and they bring it everyday.”

It’s a special time for baseball fans in Wisconsin.

“It is very special,” said Ryan. “I don’t take this for granted.”

Added another fan: “It’s just a great feeling for a longtime Brewers fan.”

The Fox Cities Stadium seating bowl was sold out Tuesday, despite the rain and a last-place Timber Rattlers club. But there’s a World Series contender down in Milwaukee, and some players that could help them compete in the future.

If you’re not at American Family Field, this might be the next-best place to be.
