Giancarlo Stanton takes fly balls in right field before a game at Yankee Stadium, Aug. 8, 2025.
NEW YORK – The start of Wednesday night’s scheduled 7:05 p.m. game, delayed by rain at Yankee Stadium, was pushed to approximately 8:55 p.m. according to the Yankees.
Yankee Stadium grounds crew members began removing the tarp at about 8 p.m.
Two hours earlier, the Yankees announced that the game would not start on time. The tarp went on the field following batting practice, with the Yanks seeking to complete a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins.
When the game begins, the Twins will send their right-handed ace Joe Ryan to the mound against Yankees’ rookie Cam Schlittler, making his sixth big-league start.
Following Wednesday’s game, the Yankees are set to fly to St. Louis to begin a three-game series Friday night against the Cardinals.
The Twins were headed back to Minnesota to open a four-game set against the Detroit Tigers beginning Thursday.
